Objectives:

  • Outline protocols for safe prescribing of opioids and other controlled substance for effective pain management
  • Identify high-risk behavior in patients and apply standards of care 
  • Demonstrate effective communication with patients regarding the prescription of an opioid or other controlled substance
  • Comply with regulatory requirements for prescribing and monitoring controlled substances
  • Discuss best practices for alternative treatment options, and multi-modal approaches to pain management 

CME Credits:

The 2019 Texas Legislature passed multiple bills requiring physicians to complete opioid-related CME covering specific topics identified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB). This webinar meets TMB requirements. 

The Texas Pain Society is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Texas Pain Society designates this enduring material for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
